Koooorrrraaaaaa ! In the Avatar State! Bending ALL.
I think all that referencing in the past is starting to bare fruit. Introducing a painting in the style of
Fire texture taken from CGTextures and I just discovered the awesomeness that is the chalk textured brush .
Let me know what you think lovelies ! Featured
EDIT OMW!! DD Whooooo Yaay thank you thank you thank you ! Special thanks to *QAuZ for always patiently taking time to give me pointers on how I could attain higher and higher quality in my submissions, *Minato-Kushina for ACTUALLY suggesting this and finally ^Lyricanna for finding it cool enough to feature !!
Hehe if you like Avatar, I've just submitted some Mako to go with Korra in celebration of this momentuos occasion.
Thanks for the faves, comments and watches.. SO AWESOME. Will thank you all soon OMW I finally replied to everyone
Korra looks so strong in this picture; but there is so much more I could and will say. The flame just flows along perfectly and the reflection of it as well, the water is the exact same and perfect with the bubbles and twirls and swirls. This is just a plain lovely piece that no one can duplicate. Her outfit is just right and it's awesome.
Please, continue with your artwork. I love the paint, how you've gone in one way and made absolutely no mistakes. Her eyes are lovely, even better than the traditional blue eyes that Aang had. Her eyelashes are fine and her facial features show how bad she can kick butt.
Funny coincidence how this is the second of it's kind I've seen today but from a different artist (is this Avatar day or something ) Anyway since I don't watch the actual show I guess I can have an un-biased opinion to share.
Mostly regarding the fire though. The "real" flames look really cool, and that's a strange, fluid effect that can be hard to paint. But I would have attempted it anyway since having one photo-based element in the artwork looks a bit out of place when everything else looks painted from scratch. Maybe even a simple paint-over the fire or a soft glow around it would help it blend in better
The chalk-brush effect looks pretty good though. Never really seen anyone do that. It does match the dynamic and energetic theme going on here

Lovely, and it defiantely deserved a DD.
